With the Kaltura integration into Moodle, it’s easy for students to create and upload their own videos. These could be used to record presentations or screencast videos, to add video comments or VLOGs (video blogs), to conduct interviews, etc. You can either provide a forum for students to post videos to, or create a Media Assignment if you’d like the video to be private and/or gradable. There are many benefits to trying out the use of video for student projects:

  • Allow students to practice and develop new digital and media literacies
  • Allow students to review and evaluate their own presentations
  • Create presentations that can be viewed at any time if class time is tight
  • Presentations can be added to portfolios, shared with relevant audiences, etc
