Excavating ancient cemeteries in the broiling Spanish sun might not be everyone’s idea of a fabulous way to spend a summer, but it definitely appeals to UP’s Fr. Richard Rutherford, CSC, Professor Emeritus with the Department of Theology.
In July 2014, Fr. Richard Rutherford led a team of UP faculty, alumni, and supporters on an expedition to the old Roman city of Pollèntia near Alcúdia in Mallorca, Spain. He plans to return to the site in July 2105 with another team from the UP campus community. In this podcast, Fr. Rutherford talk about some of the technology used on the expedition including ground penetrating radar and aerial photography and videography using cameras mounted to a balloon and a quadcopter drone.
