Who are we?

SHPE, the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, is the nation’s largest association dedicated to fostering Hispanic leadership in the STEM field. The student chapter at the University of Portland continues this tradition in the Portland Metropolitan Area.

Mission
SHPE at the University of Portland empowers Hispanics and other underrepresented students in STEM by providing support in professional and personal lifestyles, motivation and guidance to complete the STEM career journey, and the self-realization of their full potential.

Vision
SHPE at the University of Portland envisions a world where future STEM professionals are at the forefront of leadership with team-orientated mindsets, experience, well-trained, open to outreach, and who are easily adapting to changes.

You do not have to be an engineer or identify as Hispanic to join SHPE. Anyone in a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) academic track is welcome!!!
