The Rural Immersion is an annual immersion sponsored by the Moreau Center over Fall Break, in which a group of students and staff go to rural Yakima Valley, WA, to explore issues of agribusiness and the realities for undocumented farmworkers. Participants visit social service agencies and engage in service projects where they learn about the food system.
The immersion’s focus is on social justice–incorporating awareness, direct service, themes of Catholic social teaching, and most important, daily reflections to mentally digest the surge of information and emotions. One sociology credit can be earned.
