  1. Your topic demonstrates the leap of increased militarization that has occurred along the U.S./Mexican border, and when you look at it in such a broad overview, its easy to note how far we have taken immigration. Innocents are dying at the expense of these big corporations making their profits, it is inhumane and saddening. A question that I had when reading this was: How does the American public view this? Are many in favor, or is the resistance against this militarization growing?

  2. The topic of militarization of the border is an interesting issue which I didn’t know enough about. It was quite staggering to see that border deaths have double in about 15 years. However, it would have been great to know the actual number. Also, your infographic is very clean and flows nicely. You mention that corporations benefit monetarily from this militarization. Is your argument that militarization of the border has been solely driven by this corporate greed? If so, it would’ve been nice to see some more elaboration on this. Lastly, some actual pictures may have helped to give a greater emotional impact.

  3. Johanna, an answer to your question regarding how the American public views this is that they are largely unaware. I, for one, was completely unaware of the mass amounts of the U.S. budget that goes towards border security until I spent a week in Arizona last spring becoming educated on border issues. Many people are simply unaware of the militarized culture that is so present in border towns (such as border patrol agents dressed in camouflage riding ATVs back and forth along the fence).
