Helping a sick child fight their illness takes a big enough emotional toll on a family. Adding a financial strain can make it all almost too much to bear. Ronald McDonald House Charity can help address those problems, whether they involve housing that’s near a hospitalized child, the expense of staying together in another city, or even getting basic medical and dental care in a vulnerable community. Our local chapters are in need of 2 different groups of volunteers:
1. Volunteers needed to provide respite to parents by supervising children while their parents are in other parts of the home. Support overall crafts, games, and activities by providing small group and one on one care. Volunteers are needed every Tuesday Ronald McDonald’s west Portland location ( 2115 SW River Parkway) from 4-8pm, and every Thursday at their east Portland location(2620 N. Commercial Ave) from 4-8pm. .
2. Dinner volunteers needed. The meals you provide bring love into the Ronald McDonald House, allowing families to unwind, de-stress, and fortify their bodies to be at their best for their child in the hospital. Volunteers work as a group of up to 5 people to prepare a meal, allowing families to find nourishment and comfort in a shared meal.
