The Chemo Pal Mentor Program pairs children and teens one-to-one with compassionate adults who offer supportive relationships throughout their chemotherapy or other cancer treatments. Chemo Pals are carefully selected from a wide range of personal and professional backgrounds. They spend time with young patients in hospitals, clinics and even at home to play games, take walks, read, do art projects, share hobbies and more. Mentors play games, listen to music, share hobbies, or simply offer the comfort of companionship, relieving the anxiety, loneliness and isolation experienced by children in treatment. They can also give parents a much-needed break to grab a cup of coffee, talk with doctors, or spend time with their other children.
