Position 1: Farmers Market Internship Moreland Farmers Market – Portland, Oregon Moreland Farmers Market (MFM) is a mid-sized farmers market located in Portland’s Sellwood /Westmoreland neighborhood. The market is held on Wednesday afternoons from May through October. MFM averages 35 vendors and 1,200 customers per market.
Description of Position: MFM is seeking a qualified, highly motivated Intern for the 2016 season. The MFM Intern will work closely with the Market Manager, the Board of Directors, and the market’s volunteer staff, and will be involved with all aspects of the market’s operations.
Roles and responsibilities include: Oversight of token coordination program, including the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), management of market Information Booth, assistance with volunteer recruitment and coordination, events planning and coordination including sampling, classes and childrens activities, working with the marketing committee, writing articles and posts, attendance at and participation in monthly Board meetings, assistance with general at-market needs, including set-up and break-down
Hours and Duration: Approximately 15 hours per week from May through October.
Requirements: Qualified applicants will exhibit the following characteristics:,interest in food, agriculture, and small business, highly organized, strong communication skills, effective research and writing skills, ability to operate within a changing, entrepreneurial environment
Compensation: $1,500 stipend

Position 2: Farmers’ Market Children’s Booth Internship Help support local farming while teaching kids about making healthy choices. The Moreland Farmers’ Market is looking to bring on an intern who has an investment in children’s health and nutrition to organize and run their Children’s Program. Their goal is to get kids excited about the fruits and vegetables that are grown here in the Pacific Northwest in hopes of expanding palates, increasing awareness of food production, and informing a healthful diet.
$500 stipend and possible college credit offered.
Approximately 6 hours per week May 4th through October 19th.
