There has never been a point in my life where I have felt confident in the idea of what I want to do with my future, and though that statement remains true, this opportunity has veered me closer to a decision of confidence. I am transferring universities next year, and with that, the opportunity to major in anthropology (something I have been interested in for a while) was an idea that could now come to fruition. And though it was something I found interest in I was still not confident in my decision.

I didn’t really know what to expect when we started our archeological journey at Pollentia, though archeology had always been a childhood dream of mine, not unlike many others in our group, actually working as an archeologist was not something I felt I would realistically do in my lifetime. The experience was one that I enjoyed and learned so much from. The professional archeologists we worked with taught me so much and created an environment where I felt confident in the work I did and grew from the feedback given to me. From my conversations, connections, education, and hype from the wonderful archeologists we worked alongside on our site, I feel that archeology, or a profession where I can study and learn from and about people of the past and their ways of life, is something that genuinely interests me. This opportunity has made me feel confident in my major decision and is an experience that has truly impacted me.
