Hello! My name is Chloe Cobos, and I’m going to be a Senior Philosophy student this upcoming fall semester (2024). I’m from Sandy, Oregon, also known as the gateway to Mount Hood.
This experience stood out to me because of its emphasis on digging up the past in order to discover ourselves in the present, and develop ourselves in the future. In beautiful Spain, where my family is originally from (several generations before me!), I hope to learn more about my ancestry, myself, and about archeology – something I’ve had an interest in for a long time. I hope this expedition will provide me with an opportunity to reflect on myself and my spirituality as I work in an ancient Catholic cemetery. I’m curious to see how my spiritual beliefs either support me on this journey, or pose ethical questions for my consideration as I work in such a sacred space.
I hope to grow as an observer. Leadership requires a level of understanding those around us, and in order to so so, I must place myself in a position of observation. I hope that I can develop a greater sensitivity to my peers and their attitudes as we embark on this journey of self-discovery together.
Ciao for now!
