Last week, Active Minds planted white tissue-paper flowers in front of Franz Hall for Suicide Awareness Day, a campus-wide event bringing light to college students who have committed suicide and spreading mental health awareness. Active Minds states that the flowers are intended to represent and honor the lives lost to suicide. Among the flowers stood white signs with statistics and information about suicide, and where to get help. While Active Minds removed the flowers and signs at the end of Suicide Awareness Day, the resources below remain constantly available. See below for a compilation of local mental health resources.
Multnomah County Crisis Line

Who can call: anyone who is or knows someone experiencing a mental health crisis. There are mental health professionals on call 24/7 seven days a week, and interpretors available for non-English speakers. They offer help in finding mental health providers, and information about non-crisis community resources.

Multnomah County Urgent Walk-In
Location: 4212 SE Division St
Who can come: anyone. This clinic is free and open to the public, offering immediate care during a mental health crisis, help with medication, and access to a psychiatrist or mental health nurse practitioner.

Who can call/chat: anyone, but their services focus on youth and those struggling with addiction/recovery. The youthline will connect teens and young-adults to trained peers, while the suicide lifeline will connect any caller to an adult professional.
