2018 Tenth Annual Reception
All students, staff, and faculty are invited to attend!
WHEN: Thursday, September 27, 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
WHERE: Clark Library, Upper Floor in the Parberry Room
Every Fall, the Clark Library invites the entire campus to a reception honoring UP faculty, staff, and student authors who have published in the previous year. It’s a great opportunity to get a firsthand look at the depth of talent and areas of research and creativity from our very own (see past receptions). Some of the featured publications are freely available through Pilot Scholars, the University’s institutional repository.
How are publications selected?
This year’s reception features works published between June 1, 2017 and May 31, 2018. Please note that as of 2016, the library no longer compiles a companion UP Authors Bibliography.
We use the data that faculty have entered into the Scholarly Activity Tool (SAT) to identify publications. We receive SAT reports from the Office of Undergraduate Scholarly Engagement in June. We do exclude some publication types such as blog entries, newspaper articles, conference posters and presentations, and conference papers not published in proceedings. Please contact us if you have questions about your publication type.
Student authors are identified based on information reported in the Scholarly Activity Tool. We may also ask faculty to notify us of any student-authored publications.
In late June, the Clark Library reaches out to staff through PilotsUP to request information on works they may have published.
Obtaining Display Copies for the Reception
Copies are acquired through our subscriptions, from our collection, or through Interlibrary Loan. If copies can’t be located, they are requested directly from the authors.
