iPads are incredibly versatile, mobile, and powerful computing devices that are becoming increasingly capable of acting as full-on laptop replacements for many people. It’s not unreasonable to suggest that teachers can and will be using mobile devices to present content more and more frequently in the coming months and years, either by plugging into podiums directly or by taking advantage of the proliferation of wireless connectivity options. Picture yourself lecturing in a classroom, presenting at a conference, or sharing information with colleagues in a meeting: can you see yourself using an iPad?

In today’s #UPTechTip video, I make a few suggestions on how to configure an iPad to stave off distractions (screen orientation flipping back and forth?) or faux pas (text messages/emails/Candy Crush notifications at the worst possible times?) while your mobile device screen is being presented publicly. With these steps, you can go into presentation mode in just a few seconds. Find out how in the video below. *Sidenote: while this guide is framed as a method for ensuring smoother presentations, it also works wonders for turning your iPad into a stable, distraction-free e-reader for your Kindle books, PDFs, notes, saved articles, etc.)
