The Garaventa Center hosts an annual essay contest for students in Catholic high schools throughout the Pacific Northwest and Utah. 2014’s directive was to “write a humorous story about how you got over yourself.” In this special edition of Solloquia Tempestiva, the top two essays–by St.Mary’s High School (Medford, Oregon) student Kylie Winger and Paul Oliver of Judge Memorial High School (Salt Lake City, Utah) are read aloud by University of Portland actors Annie Ganousis and Jeffrey Phillips. The podcast is approximately 15 minutes long; press the Play button below to listen.
