Norton Anthology Recitation Contest

www.tumblr.com

Couldn’t every English major could use an extra $150 dollars to Barnes and Noble?  Or how about your name listed in the “acknowledgments” portion of a Norton Anthology? All you have to do is recite a work of literature just the way you want to for the second annual Norton Anthology Student Recitation Contest!

Here are the guidelines:

  • Submit an original video recitation of one of the 6 provided works
  • Keep your video under 5 minutes
  • Submit your video between September 15th and November 1st by uploading it online
  • Be creative!

*Note: Memorization is not required, but would probably increase your chances of winning.

Here are the options for your recitation:

-“Speech to the Troops at Tilbury” by Elizabeth I (The Norton Anthology of English Literature)

-“Annabel Lee” by Edgar Allen Poe (The Norton Anthology of American Literature)

-“If—” by Rudyard Kipling (The Norton Anthology of English Literature)

-“We Wear the Mask” by Paul Laurence Dunbar (The Norton Anthology of American Literature)

-Sonnet 116 (“Let me not to the meeting of true minds”) by William Shakespeare (The Norton Anthology of English Literature and The Norton Anthology of World Literature)

-[A Bird, came down the Walk-] by Emily Dickinson (The Norton Anthology of American Literature and The Norton Anthology of World Literature)
