Student creative writers and editors at UP:
UP’s creative journal Writers is seeking editors for the 2013 issue. This year, the Senior Editors and Faculty Liaison will hold brief interviews with interested candidates during the week of November 5th. Please contact Dr. Brassard atBrassard@up.edu by Friday November 2nd to schedule an interview or for any questions about the journal or editor responsibilities.
Writers is an annual publication of the university’s creative literary and photographic work. The magazine is entirely student-led and student-edited, and students from any majors are welcome to interview for editor positions. Writerseditorial board members gain experience in the challenges of design, submission-selection, organization, and publicity, as well as the planning of the annual launch party in April (when the 300 or so free copies of the magazine are distributed around the campus and contributors are invited to read from their work).
For those students just interested in submitting poems, stories, essays, short plays, and photos to Writers, look for announcements in the upcoming months; the submission deadline is usually around mid-February. Editorial board members are also allowed to submit.
Past volumes of Writers are available online via the English department website (“Resources and Opportunities”).
