Description: Dr. Autumn discusses how important the study of animals is to our world as we can implement their natural anatomy into our technology. Because the physics of gecko feet was only recently studied, we just found out their feet stick mechanically and not chemically as hypothesized. The design of their feet is a huge advantage to the manufacturing industry and is now being used by NASA for ideas like grippers for cleaning space junk. This lecture sheds light on the newly understood gecko and its importance in our lives as changes in electronics and other areas.
