Greetings!
I hope everyone’s transition to the fall semester has gone well! I’m happy to be back on campus after a whirlwind of a summer travel season. I had an amazing time with our students in Salzburg studying Anatomy, and I’m enjoying incorporating what I learned into my Anatomy labs this semester. In our inaugural newsletter, I wanted to share some tips with you to help you stay organized, on track with your major, and thrive while here at UP. Remember spring course registration is just around the corner and now is the time to start planning!
Danke! Jacquie Van Hoomissen, Ph.D.
Tip#1: Read the Bulletin. The Bulletin is a one-stop shopping center for all things degree related. If you have questions about course requirements or your degree, the answers are in the Bulletin. Find the Bulletin here: http://up.smartcatalogiq.com/2013-2014/bulletin
Tip#2: Plan Ahead. Now is a great time to create a spread-sheet of courses you anticipate taking for the Spring. The
Tip#3. Talk with your Professors. If you are struggling with your courses, please make an appointment to talk with your professors. They can help; I promise:)
Tip#4. Study Abroad. Are you interested in studying abroad? Do you have questions about how to go overseas and still complete a BIO major? It is possible and I would highly recommend you con-sider at least a summer or more abroad. Consider talking about this option with your advisors this fall during the registration period.
Tip#5: Keep Moving. Don’t forget to get at least 150 minutes/week of physical activity. Your brain will thank you!
